Manchester United rival Arsenal to sign Chelsea star N’Golo Kante this summer
According to Daily Star, Manchester United will face off against Arsenal to sign Chelsea star N’Golo Kante on a potential transfer this summer. This news is quite surprising, to say the least, considering the struggles in form and fitness that the midfielder endured in the previous campaign.
Kante is in line to see his contract at Stamford Bridge expire at the end of the next season. That has caused clubs to be on alert about his situation with the Gunners now entering the fray. They are set to enquire about whether he will be made available on the market in this transfer window.
Mikel Arteta is looking to bring in a defensive midfield addition and has been contemplating targeting Kante right now. Man United would undoubtedly be dealt a blow by this latest piece of information as they are actively in the mix to try and secure the French midfielder’s signature.
Stay away Man Utd!
It does make sense why we are monitoring Kante’s situation at this moment, looking at the departures we had in midfield. We could use someone who can play in the deep-lying areas after Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba left to join AS Roma and Juventus, respectively.
That being said, Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong continues to be our top target, with Erik ten Hag being eager to reunite with his former player. Both of them worked together to bring great success at Ajax, so it is exciting to think about what they could do at Old Trafford.
However, it has been claimed recently that de Jong has rejected the Red Devils, which does create problems indeed. After all, we have spent far too much time and effort to sign the holding midfielder, and his decision is certainly worrisome in our current circumstance.
In such a case, Kante would have been helpful, but the 31-year-old is not the player he once was, looking at his performances over the past year or so. He has been struggling with his fitness for quite a while, and signing him would be too much of a risk after factoring in his high wages.
Not to mention, the Premier League ace’s displays have not been great either when he was available, which should be enough of a warning indeed. In any case, we do not even know whether the Blues would sell him as they are looking to restructure their squad after a difficult campaign.
He may have won the FIFA World Cup with France four years back, but it is hard to convince ourselves if Kante can continue being a world-class midfielder in the near future.

As such, let’s hope that the management would finally change their methods by focusing on making smart signings instead of superstar transfers for our own good. Whether that will happen or not, though, remains to be seen.
