Transfer News: Tyrell Malacia to arrive in Manchester ahead of medical
According to popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia is set to arrive in Manchester for his medical ahead of his imminent transfer to the Red Devils.
Man United have successfully agreed a deal with Feyenoord for the talented defender after swooping in at the last minute and stealing Malacia from under Lyon’s nose. Now, the player is all set to become the first signing of the Erik ten Hag era.
A talented left-back, Malacia has impressed during his time in the Netherlands. Malacia has been a part of the youth ranks of Feyenoord in 2015 before breaking into the first team in 2017. In these five seasons, he has gone on to become one of the best left-backs in the Eredivisie.
The Dutch defender’s form has not gone unnoticed with Malacia already being capped by the national team. He has played 50 games for the Dutch club this season, scoring one goal and providing five assists across all competitions.
Whilst almost sealing a deal to Ligue 1 giants Lyon, Malacia decided to join Manchester United when they swooped in at the last minute. He will now get a chance to play under Erik ten Hag, a manager he would have seen a lot of in the Eredivisie.
Malacia is set to come in and provide competition at left-back, a position where Manchester United are relatively well loaded. Luke Shaw is the incumbent number one in that position but for all his abilities, the Englishman is often ridiculed by injuries.
Alex Telles has been offered to other clubs and it seems like the Brazilian is set to leave Old Trafford in the summer. Brandon Williams is yet another player whose future in our starting XI remains uncertain.
Alvaro Fernandes, a player from the academy who is tipped to go achieve big things in the world of football might be a couple of loan moves away from first-team football.
The talented Dutch left-back, amidst this, could provide good competition to Luke Shaw next season and make a case for himself to be a starter. At 22, Malacia is still very young and could be a very exciting option for the future.

It must be remembered though that Malacia could take time to adjust to new surroundings. Not all foreign players take to English football like fish to water and hence we must be patient with the starlet.
He would also come up against some of the best attackers in the world while in England- if he completes his move to Old Trafford- and it remains to be seen how quickly he is up for that task.
