Transfer News: Manchester United in contact with agents of Neymar over a potential move
According to 90min (h/t The Express), Manchester United are currently in contact with the agents of Neymar after they were approached to discuss a potential transfer move. He has been linked with a departure from Paris Saint-Germain as his future is currently clouded by uncertainty.
As such, Neymar Junior’s representatives sounded out some of the major clubs across Europe to discuss the possibility of joining them this summer. Man United are one among them, and they could decide to register their interest in the superstar with PSG willing to sell him as of now.
The likes of Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Juventus, AC Milan and Chelsea have also been contacted in this situation. Despite the possibility of a move, the Red Devils are unlikely to target the Brazil international with a massive financial package required for his wages alone.
No thanks!
It would be wise on the Manchester club’s part to steer clear of the 30-year-old even though he is among the best players in world football right now. Neymar is no longer a winger like he was in the past as he is more of a number ten in trade which his Brazil national team coach Tite also believes to be the case.
As such, we have no spots for Neymar in our squad as our current priority should be making smart signings rather than chasing after luxury targets for now. We already have Cristiano Ronaldo in our ranks, which makes it even more unreasonable to pursue the South American this summer.
Not to mention, Neymar has been plagued by injuries over the past few campaigns, which kept him out of contention at crucial points in those seasons. That alone should be enough of a reason to not chase after him, which seems to be what we planned after his entourage approached us.
In any case, our current focus should be to plug the holes and improve our options in other areas like centre-back or right-wing, to say a few. Neymar does not fall into that category, so the management should look to reject the advances from his camp at this moment.

That being said, the fans would hope that our direct rivals like the Citizens and the Blues would not target Neymar this summer. After all, we would not want them to get stronger as their circumstances are quite different from ours.
Fortunately, Man City could find it difficult to facilitate a move for the former Barcelona man. However, Thomas Tuchel’s side are keen on signing Neymar, which is quite concerning, so let’s keep an eye out for how that turns out moving forward.
