Bruno Fernandes has his say on the future of Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Bruno Fernandes expects Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at Manchester United

Bruno Fernandes has conveyed his belief that Cristiano Ronaldo will remain with Manchester United beyond this summer. The former’s words would be a sigh of relief to the supporters as there have been some concerns about the talisman’s future at Old Trafford moving forward.

Earlier this week, The Athletic had claimed that super-agent Jorge Mendes had offered his client Ronaldo to clubs like Chelsea and Bayern Munich during a meeting with them. That did result in fears within the fanbase that they may just lose out on the superstar ahead of the next season.

However, Fernandes has now given some assurance to the fans with his revelation. Speaking in an interview with Record (h/t Fabrizio Romano on Twitter), the Portuguese international revealed his conversation with Cristiano, causing him to expect his compatriot to be a part of the training sessions for the pre-season.

“Cristiano Ronaldo situation? I spoke to him weeks ago, so I expect to meet Cristiano on day 4 for the pre-season trainings – and there’s nothing else. I don’t think Man United are open to lose a top resource like Cristiano.”

Man Utd must not lose Ronaldo!

It would not be a surprise to see Ronaldo being frustrated about his situation at Old Trafford at this moment. After all, despite enjoying a solid season on a personal level, the team went through a very rough phase throughout the entirety of the previous campaign.

Now, even after Erik ten Hag’s arrival and expectations of a squad rebuild, we are yet to announce even one signing so far. Someone like Ronaldo would probably be annoyed by that as he may feel the lack of support, especially when there have been outgoings that further reduced the team’s quality.

We are also not in a position to challenge for titles for the upcoming season and have also missed out on the Champions League. That is a massive blow for the former Real Madrid man who made a name for himself by dominating that highly prestigious competition.

That could give some insight into why Mendes met with other European sides to discuss the possibility of a potential move for the 37-year-old centre-forward. While Fernandes did provide some sigh of relief, his talk with Ronaldo was a while back, unlike the meeting with Bayern Munchen and The Blues.

We have already seen Edinson Cavani depart for free this summer, so losing Ronaldo would cause major issues as there are no natural strikers other than the talisman in our ranks. Hence, the board and ten Hag must assure the superstar about the new project and their plans for the future.

Those plans are already underway, with agreements being in place with Barcelona and Feyenoord for Frenkie de Jong and Tyrell Malacia, respectively. Let’s hope to see those transfers being finalised so that Ronaldo would be more than convinced about our rebuilding processes.
