Man United veteran decides to remain at Old Trafford amidst MLS interest

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo rejects Inter Miami transfer approach

According to Daily Star, Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has rejected the approach from Inter Miami to sign him on a potential transfer move. It would have been quite shocking to see this offer get accepted, as the talisman still has years left in top-flight football.

The MLS club, who is owned by David Beckham, wanted to sign Ronaldo to uplift their squad’s quality while also simultaneously boosting their image. However, their advance was turned down as Cristiano is expected to stay at Man United beyond this summer.

Ronaldo was frustrated by the poor season the Red Devils endured last season, which prompted him to consider his future options this summer. In fact, the Manchester side also remains adamant that he will not be allowed to leave while believing that he wants to work together with Erik ten Hag.

Unlikely to happen anyway

Ronaldo had enjoyed a decent time on a personal level in the previous campaign, which makes it quite puzzling to see why the US-based club thought they had an opportunity to sign him this summer. While the Portuguese international is not at his best, a move to North America would not have made sense when he still performs at a solid level.

Following Edinson Cavani’s departure, we would lack someone who can lead the frontline in the upcoming season if Ronaldo was allowed to depart. Hence, it is understandable why the Mancunians are keen to keep hold of the talisman in this transfer window.

Furthermore, we are going through a delicate situation right now as there is a need to reinforce other areas like midfield and defence, for example. Losing Ronaldo would have added to our troubles which is the last thing we want at this point.

It would be best for us if the 37-year-old is given some assurance by the English side that they will be in a better condition for the next season. Fortunately, that seems to be on the plans as ten Hag is expected to engage in conversations with the forward to discuss the matter.

The former Real Madrid man also has some concerns about the lack of business in the transfer window this summer. His worries are certainly warranted as the supporters also share a similar sentiment regarding this matter.

It is claimed that perhaps ten Hag could give the captaincy role to Ronaldo to help in this case, which could also prove to be helpful for Harry Maguire as well. Hence, it will be interesting to see what the decision from the boss will be in the future.
