Crystal Palace enter transfer race for Manchester United ace Andreas Pereira

Flamengo opt against signing Manchester United loanee Andreas Pereira on a permanent deal.

Crystal Palace have entered the race for Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira

According to Extra, Crystal Palace are the new entrants in the transfer battle for forgotten Manchester United man Andreas Pereira who played the last season in Brazil.

The midfielder has only played 45 times in the Premier League since joining Old Trafford in 2014, and during that time, he has gone out on loan as much as four times.

He spent a season at Flamengo in Brazil during the most recent campaign, where he reportedly hoped for a long-term contract. He has played in 49 games across all competitions and scored six goals and assisted three more from midfield, but he hasn’t been offered a long-term deal.

Andreas Pereira told that he still has a future at Manchester United.

Amid such a situation Fulham have been heavily linked with Pereira. It is even said that they have already made an offer in the region of €10m which might be the only genuine deal on his plate right now.

Now, another Premier League team, Crystal Palace, are believed to have shown interest in luring away the Brazilian midfielder from United. It is claimed that Pereira’s agent ‘consulted information about Crystal Palace’.

The supporters were disappointed to hear United might have to keep Pereira after this summer when the deal to Flamengo did not materialise. If a transfer is anticipated this summer, the interest from Palace and Fulham would be a lifeline for the Manchester team and the player.

The Brazilian appears to be looking to leave Old Trafford if it meant he would be a regular somewhere else. He did have a terrific time while on loan in Brazil recently, which would make it easier for us to sell him to anyone who is interested to sign him for a good price.

The midfield is one of the areas that must be prioritised this summer, according to Ten Hag. Replacing Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, and Jesse Lingard all at once, who all depart at the end of this month, could be challenging and costly.

Hence Pereira’s future would probably depend on how well he performs in the preseason. Given that ten Hag and Pereira had a prior relationship as a result of their time spent together at PSV Eindhoven, Pereira might have a role if he can live up to ten Hag’s expectations.

In the forthcoming pre-season friendly, it will be intriguing to see if the South American can save his time in Manchester by continuing his form from the previous season.
