Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix is a “strong option” for Manchester United amidst Chelsea interest
According to the Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha (h/t The Mirror), Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix has now emerged as a “strong option” for Manchester United amidst interest from Chelsea for a potential move. His future has become clouded by uncertainty at this moment, which has seen him linked with an exit this summer.
Man United are searching the market for a forward reinforcement in this transfer window. Erik ten Hag is planning to strengthen his frontline ahead of the next season to help with the rebuild. As such, Felix has emerged to become a solid option to meet their needs this summer.
However, the Red Devils will need to deal with several Premier League clubs who are pursuing Felix in this summer transfer window. Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are two of the other interested parties as they are currently tracking his situation at Atletico for now.
Is signing Felix possible?
The Portuguese international has had a difficult time at Atleti after joining them from Benfica back in 2019. That being said, he did finally show the quality he has been known for, especially in the second half of the previous campaign before an untimely injury put a stop to it.
As such, one could say that the 22-year-old could still fulfil his potential if he is provided with the right tools in a healthy environment. That being said, one may wonder where he would fit if ten Hag decides to stick with the current three-man attacking set-up.
Perhaps, Felix could play as a false nine for us, which would give ten Hag a good dynamic to choose from between Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese attacker. Who knows, perhaps the boss could even create a Portuguese frontline between the two if he decides to tweak the system.
That being said, Spurs and the Blues would look to scupper our plans if they actively target Felix this summer. Then again, we have to first make sure whether he would entertain any approaches from elsewhere in the first place.

That is doubtful, considering how the Atletico forward has played down claims that linked him with a departure from Wanda Metropolitano. Despite that, the door has not been firmly shut down just yet, so let’s see whether the Manchester management would get the approval from Diego Simeone’s side moving forward.
