Transfer News: Manchester United keeping tabs on David Raum

According to @BILD via @Keven_Bader as tweeted by UtdActive (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are keeping tabs on Hoffenheim left-back David Raum ahead of the summer.

Raum joined Hoffenheim from Greuther Furth in 2021 and has gone on to have a great first season in the Bundesliga. The talented defender has impressed one and all with his attacking gameplay and creative output this season.

The 24-year-old has played 35 times for the Bundesliga club this season scoring three goals and providing 13 assists across all competitions. Such numbers are impressive for any player, especially someone who is playing for the first time in a top league.

It has now emerged that the Red Devils like the German and have been linked with a move for the talented defensive player ahead of the summer.

Too soon?

If this season’s performances are anything to go by, then signing Raum would be a very easy decision for Man Utd but could it be too soon is a question.

However, it must be kept in mind that it took the German international four seasons to make his first big move and we must not rush into any decision on the defender. It is evident though that the 24-year-old has the potential.

It is no coincidence that the talented German has since won nine caps for the national team and is a part of Hansi Flick’s plans. The player’s versatility is also a huge plus with the 24-year-old also capable of playing further up the field on the left flank.

We already have two quality left-back options in our squad in Luke Shaw and Alex Telles. Despite a poor season last time around, Shaw still has what it takes to make it big at Old Trafford but the same cannot be said about the Brazilian.

If United manage to offload the Brazilian, then maybe signing Raum makes sense. However, if there are no exits on the cards, the Red Devils could wait at least one more season for the German defender.
