Brighton enter Christian Eriksen transfer pursuit amidst Manchester United interest

According to The Express, Brighton have entered the race to sign Christian Eriksen amidst interest from Manchester United for a potential transfer this summer. He has become one of the most sought-after players in the Premier League due to the market opportunity his future has presented at this moment.

Eriksen is now available on a free transfer after his contract with Brentford expired this summer. Man United are interested in signing him and have even offered him a contract, having made him one of their top targets to bolster their midfield. However, they will now face competition from Brighton and Hove Albion for his services.

Graham Potter’s side have been on the rise, having recorded their highest-ever finish in the PL last season. The Dane’s addition would significantly boost their chances of building on that, which means that the Red Devils cannot take them lightly in any case, as the pursuit remains open even now.

Transfer blow for Man Utd

The 30-year-old has certainly proven to the world that he is still able to perform at the top level despite the cardiac arrest he suffered last summer. In such a case, he would greatly be helpful, especially since Paul Pogba has left Old Trafford and is nearing a move to Juventus for free as of now.

Pogba’s departure would leave a gaping hole in terms of creativity from the midfield, and Eriksen can prove to be a great replacement. After all, the latter has performed more than well for the Bees and the Denmark national team since returning to action, which further makes a case to target him this summer.

However, the Seagulls are not the only team that we must be wary of, as others like Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City and Everton are also vying to get a hold of Eriksen to bolster their ranks. Beating off competition from Spurs, in particular, could be difficult as they were his former club, and they can also offer Champions League football.

We have not facilitated any transfer business so far in this window which is quite concerning considering how a rebuild is required to back Erik ten Hag. According to GiveMeSport via The Express, the boss wants to sign a player beyond 30 to bring in some much-needed experience, with Cristiano Ronaldo being the only regular who falls in that category.

Eriksen would fall into that category, and there is a belief among those at Carrington that he can perform at his best for them should he move to Manchester. His “mindset and professionalism” is rated by those within the club, giving us more reasons to actively pursue him this summer.

Whether our degree of interest can play a role in helping us win this race or not remains to be seen in the coming weeks.
