Transfer News: Manchester United leading race to sign Derby County forward Malcolm Ebiowei
According to popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United along with Crystal Palace are leading the race to sign talented Derby County starlet Malcolm Ebiowei.
The talented winger joined Derby County from Rangers in 2021 and has impressed in a struggling Derby County side this season. He has been one of the lone shining lights in Wayne Rooney’s team as the Rams fight to get themselves out of the mess they find themselves in.
The 18-year-old winger has played 29 times for the club this season scoring eight goals and providing three assists across all competitions. Such numbers are very impressive for an 18-year-old and he indeed is a huge talent.
Manchester United and Crystal Palace are said to be leading the race to procure the signature of the teenage starlet whilst interest from AS Monaco has been turned down in favour of the Premier League.
One for the future?
If United indeed sign him, it is still not clear as to what kind of a future the Red Devils plan for the talented winge, whose team were relegated to League One in the most recent season.
Ideally, fans would guess that signing him and loaning him out to another club would be an option as keeping him here at Old Trafford and not giving him game time could prove to be detrimental to the development of the teenager.
However, that is just a theory- one that can only be applicable if we sign the teenager. One more option is having him play in the development teams.
We already have Jadon Sancho, Anthony Elanga, and Marcus Rashford to play on the wings. It seems very difficult to see the 18-year-old find a place in the first team.
That is without considering the fact that we have Amad Diallo returning to the first-team picture from his loan spell at Rangers. The Ivory Coast international joined the Red Devils amidst much hype last year.
But the summer window that saw the arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, and more importantly, Sancho, made a lot of our fans forget about the wonderkid who signed from Atalanta.

It remains to be seen if United land Ebiowei and even if they do, what plans they have for him but the English starlet is surely one for the future. With Wayne Rooney at the helm at Derby, the club can expect to have a direct line of communication with the Rams.
