Transfer News: Inter Milan ready to sell Denzel Dumfries amid Manchester United interest
According to transfer news on Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, Inter Milan are set to welcome offers for the sale of Manchester United target Denzel Dumfries.
The former PSV Eindhoven midfielder joined the club last summer. He was brought in as a straight replacement for Achraf Hakimi, who signed a lucrative contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
Dumfries has five goals and five assists in 33 league games in his debut season with the Serie A side. The 24-year-old had a rocky start in Italy, but he quickly established himself as a key player for Simone Inzaghi. His contributions, however, were insufficient to help Inter retain the league title.
Dumfries’ efforts, however, have not gone ignored, with Manchester United among the teams interested in signing him. It looks like new coach Erik ten Hag is eager to improve his right-back alternatives and might be intrigued to sign a fellow Dutchman for the task.
However, whether Inter would engage in such a transfer deal was a big question. But now the air is starting to clear out as it is believed that Inter Milan are considering letting Dumfries go, but it would cost any interested team €40 million (£34m).
Given that Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s profile does not suit our current style of play, it’s understandable why we’re looking for a right-back right now. In reality, Manchester United are eager to trade the defender in order to reclaim as much of the money they paid Crystal Palace for him.
In that event, we’d be short-handed, since Diogo Dalot would be our only remaining alternative in the wake of Wan-possible Bissaka’s departure. Dumfries would likely be a good addition to the full-back position, based on his recent performances for club and country.

Dumfries, who is only 26 years old, has the potential to be a long-term player for the club, and the price tag shouldn’t discourage Manchester United, especially if ten Hag identifies him as his favourite right-back.
Manchester United should do everything necessary to complete the acquisition of Dumfries. After this season, the 26-year-old will still have three years left on his Inter contract, which explains the alleged price tag the Nerazzurri have set on him.
