Transfer News: Manchester United star Jesse Lingard unlikely to move to Juventus this summer
According to GOAL (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United star Jesse Lingard is unlikely to move to Juventus in the upcoming summer transfer window. His time at Old Trafford is finally nearing its end after being at the club since his childhood days.
Lingard will leave Man United as a free agent when his current contract expires at the end of this month. His future is still up for grabs at this moment, although Juve was touted to be one of the potential destinations for him moving forward.
However, it seems that a potential transfer to Allianz Stadium is growing further and further away at this moment. It is claimed that the Bianconeri are no longer pursuing the England international to the same extent and have cooled down their interest in his signature.
Mismanagement by Man Utd board?
Massimiliano Allegri’s side are looking likely to complete a transfer for Paul Pogba this summer. As such, there was a time when it was thought that they could successfully raid Carrington for two players, with Lingard joining Pogba on his way to Turin.
But that seems out of the cards at this moment, so it will be interesting to see how Lingard’s situation develops this summer. Last week, The Express claimed that the 29-year-old is subjected to interest from several Premier League sides as they look to prise him away on a free transfer.
West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United were claimed to be the interested parties, and a departure to any one of them could prove to be an issue for us. That is if all three of them have maintained their intentions to sign him in the summer transfer window.
After all, West Ham and Tottenham are our direct rivals, and them strengthening their squad using Lingard would deal a damning blow for us. That is if the attacking midfielder successfully replicates the form he had shown with the Hammers during his loan spell with them in the 2020-21 season.

Newcastle are on the rise under their new owners and should they continue their improvement they could prove to be a future concern for us. Signing Lingard would probably assist them in that regard, so it would have been best if he had moved to Italy this summer.
But that seems out of the cards right now, so we are forced to wait and see what lies in store for Lingard beyond this summer. Despite the sour end to his time at Manchester, the fans would still hope to see him succeed elsewhere for being a part of this club for quite a long time.
