Transfer News: Manchester United ‘very attentive’ to the contract situation of Benoit Badiashile
According to transfer news from L’Equipe, Manchester United are keeping a close tab on Monaco’s central defender Benoit Badiashile.
Few countries in the world can match France’s wealth of quality at centre back, and the production line shows no signs of slowing down, with Monaco’s Benoit Badiashile the most recent to emerge.
Despite the fact that he only turned 21 at the end of March, Badiashile has already made over a century of appearances for The Monegasques, and his impressive form has been a key factor in Philippe Clement’s side’s seven-game winning streak, which has propelled them into Ligue 1’s Champions League positions.
The France Under-21 captain’s contract with Monaco expires in two years, and he has been linked with a number of teams throughout Europe in recent transfer windows.
Premier League teams are already around him, owing to his talent and substantial experience at such a young age. Newcastle was connected with a deal in January and now Manchester United have been linked with a summer move.
Given how unimpressive their current crop of alternatives has been this season, the Red Devils need to add to their central defence. At centre-back, Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane have been chosen as the first-choice pairing, although their relationship has failed to produce any results.
Varane was recruited from Real Madrid last summer, and his extensive experience was supposed to overhaul United’s defence. However, because of his injury problems this season, he has fallen short of the standards he set with the France national team and Real.
Maguire’s form has deteriorated, and he is only able to hold his own against tougher opponents. Meanwhile, Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, and Eric Bailly, Manchester United’s other choices, have not been given enough chances to shine.

Badiashile may be young, but in his brief career, he has already made multiple appearances for Monaco and has gathered sufficient experience. Perhaps he’ll be the signing United has been waiting for, and the English club will be lucky enough to beat Premier League teams to his signature.
But as Monaco have earned the Champions League qualification for next season it won’t be easy to convince Badiashile to come to United and play in the Europa League next season. However, as his contract is running down, Monaco might seek to raise funds from his transfer this summer in order to avoid losing him for free.
