Manchester United receive new enquiry for Diogo Dalot over potential summer transfer
According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have received a new enquiry regarding the sale of Diogo Dalot on a potential transfer this summer. He has clawed his way back into the mix under Ralf Rangnick after being ousted from the starting lineup by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for a long time.
Man United have plans to restructure their right-back position, having offered Aaron Wan-Bissaka to at least one club ahead of the summer transfer window. He is not being counted upon by Erik ten Hag for the next season and has already been informed about their intentions to sell him, leading to the current situation.
However, it is Dalot who has attracted attention yet again, having been subjected to advances several times in the last year. An unknown club have discussed his availability, but the Red Devils have made it clear that they are uninterested in facilitating a move due to him being in ten Hag’s plans.
Dalot, right-back starter?
Dalot’s emergence under Rangnick has largely been down to his attacking playstyle, which is quite a common trend in modern football. Wan-Bissaka is the complete opposite in nature, as his strengths lie in defending from the back and shutting down opposition attacks.
Top clubs usually need full-backs who contribute a lot in the forward areas, which could have played a part in ten Hag’s decision to trust Dalot over Wan-Bissaka. After all, the boss did utilise his full-backs in a similar manner at Ajax, so he would probably look to impose similar tactics at Old Trafford.
Hence, it is good to see that the Manchester club have decided to stick with Dalot and conveyed their disinterest in selling him to the unknown party. Surprisingly enough, the English side are open to changing their stance if they receive transfer bids that meet their €25million valuation of the Portuguese right-back.
That is quite shocking when the Mancunians are already trying to offload Wan-Bissaka in the summer transfer window. While Dalot is not among the very best in his position, he has showcased how dependable he can be for us with his solid displays.

There is no reason to believe that Dalot cannot improve under ten Hag when he has covered quite some ground under Rangnick. The 23-year-old could still be a dependable option for us as a backup even if we bring in a world-class replacement ahead of the next season.
As such, it is quite puzzling to see the board being open to selling Dalot if any interested parties meet their asking price. Perhaps, they should reconsider their stance as selling two right-backs at once may not be in our best interests as finding suitable replacements could be difficult under the current circumstances.
