Transfer News: Manchester United target Jurrien Timber inclined to stay at Ajax
According to transfer news from De Telegraaf, Despite Erik ten Hag’s interest to reunite with Jurrien Timber at Manchester United, the defender is eyeing a stay with his current club.
Jurrien Timber has proven to be a crucial asset for Erik ten Hag’s Ajax in their latest campaign. Despite being only 20, the Dutchman has already become a regular performer for his side. He completed a total of 43 appearances across all competitions for de Godenzonen, which is an emphatic achievement considering he only got promoted to the first team in 2020.
Manchester United have remained interested in Timber. New Red Devils manager Ten Hag is believed to be an admirer of the youngster and wants to lure him to Old Trafford in the following summer window. The 20-year-old defender’s expected price tag of €40m is said to be ‘considerable’ but not unachievable for United.
However, at the end of the day, the player’s intentions would value a lot regarding his future destination and at the moment it is believed that the 20-year-old is more inclined towards extending his contract with the Dutch outfit.

However, if the latest news is genuine then United might not be successful in luring him away from Ajax. The Red Devils might not match the Dutch team’s guarantees in providing him with a cemented spot in the starting lineup and Champions League football for next season.
The Red Devils have to look for other alternatives in the market. As the Dutch manager has a specific style, not every quality defender would be a fit for his team. Thus, the United board should give him the ultimate power to decide whom to sign in the following summer window.
