Arsenal join Manchester United in the transfer race to sign Barcelona target Raphinha
According to Gianluigi Longari of Sportitalia on Twitter (h/t Football.London), Arsenal have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Barcelona target Raphinha ahead of the summer transfer window. He has been immense for Leeds United this season and was really influential in their successful survival attempt to stay in the Premier League.
The Brazilian international has been linked with a move elsewhere at the end of this season. Man United have become alerted to this situation and have entered the pursuit to secure Raphinha’s services. They are not alone, though, as the Gunners have joined alongside them as well.
The Red Devils would also face competition from Chelsea and Barcelona as they have already expressed their interest in signing the 25-year-old. However, Man United would need to spend a hefty sum if they want to get their hands on Raphinha as he is valued at around £64million for now.
Raphinha- a solid choice indeed!
The Leeds superstar has enjoyed quite a meteoric over the past few seasons, which has seen him become a key player for club and country during that period. His 11 goals and three assists have been crucial in ensuring that Leeds retained their Premier League status.
That is a great return, considering how the PL ace earned that tally in a Whites team who have struggled throughout this term. Hence, it is reasonable to think that the winger can better that output if he is provided with the right surroundings, which will get the best out of his strengths.
We could use someone like the South American in our ranks since the right-wing position is an area that desperately needs additions this summer. After all, we lack a specialist who is dependable and would excel in that role, which has played a part in our attacking struggles this season.

Raphinha would undoubtedly be a great signing indeed, and perhaps Erik ten Hag could use the forward to his best by building a stable system to support him. However, the Manchester club would probably be concerned about the competition at this moment.

After all, the other interested parties are in a better situation than us for now, making them much more attractive than the prospect of moving to Old Trafford. But that is not the only concern, as the current price tag is certainly on the expensive end, even for someone who has excelled in the PL for some time now.
It remains to be seen if the board would feel that a move for the Brazil international would be possible or not this summer. Adding him to the squad would be a statement indeed, although we have to see whether it can take place or not this summer.
