Manchester United could make a transfer bid for RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku next week
According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports on Twitter, Manchester United could make a bid to finalise a transfer for RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku next week. He has been among the best attackers in world football over the last season, which seems to have left a mark on those at Old Trafford.
Ralf Rangnick has already suggested to Man United that they should target Nkunku moving forward. The board paid heed to Rangnick’s recommendation and are now keen admirers of the forward’s services. Hence, they could make an offer to prise him away in the coming week.
Plettenberg further claims that the Red Devils have “good” contact with the Frenchman’s management. That would be a great piece of news for the supporters, although Leipzig remain stubborn with their transfer stance. The latter still does not want to sell Nkunku at the end of the current season.
Will Man Utd make a bid?
With 35 goals and twenty assists to his name this season from 51 matches across all competitions, it is no wonder why the 24-year-old is highly rated by those at Carrington. Signing him could be crucial looking at the volatile situation of our frontline.
The Bundesliga ace has shown immense flexibility to play at this best in several positions throughout this term. Since we are dealing with several issues in the attack at once, adding Nkunku to the squad could help Erik ten Hag deal with the resulting problems with the forward’s versatility.
After all, we are set to lose Edinson Cavani, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata for free in the summer transfer window. Anthony Martial’s time with us could be up after enduring another poor campaign, while Marcus Rashford has struggled to replicate his form from the last season.
As good as Cristiano Ronaldo has been for the Manchester side this term, he simply cannot offer us long term protection on the attack. Mason Greenwood, meanwhile, is currently suspended, adding to the list of our attacking woes.

Nkunku is a fantastic choice in the current situation as he could plug the hole in several different areas at once. After all, it would be quite difficult to properly replace several different attackers at once. The German side’s stance on the French international is problematic, although it remains to be seen if they would change it when the bid is officially tabled.
Ten Hag would be delighted to see that talks are going well with Nkunku’s entourage for now. Let’s wait and see what lies in store for us regarding the attacker’s pursuit in the next week. By then, we would get more reliable information or confirmation on whether this is true or not.
