Liverpool plot transfer move for Gleison Bremer amidst Manchester United interest
According to Italian source Torino Granata (h/t The Mirror), Liverpool are plotting to facilitate a move for Gleison Bremer amidst interest from Manchester United for a potential transfer. The former has entered the race to secure the central defender’s signature at the end of this season.
The Reds have decided to “set their sights” on Bremer as they look to sign him in the summer transfer window. This news would deal a damning blow to Man United as it adds to the heavy competition they already have to deal with for his services. Torino could sell him if their valuation in the region between £21million and £25million is met by any of the interested parties.
The Brazilian defender is among the most sought after centre-backs in world football at this moment. After all, he has attracted interest from Manchester City, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Tottenham Hotspur and Napoli as well ahead of the next campaign. The Red Devils certainly need to be on their toes if they hope to finalise a transfer.
Can Man Utd sign Bremer?
The 25-year-old was recently given the award for Best Defender of Serie A for the 2021/2022 season. It is no wonder why these many top European sides have been circling to get their hands on the highly-rated centre-half. Signing him would be a major coup indeed from the Manchester club’s side, looking at the heavy hitters who are vying for him as of now.
The added competition from Jurgen Klopp’s side would undoubtedly cause concerns among the fans due to their current situation. Even though it is quite difficult to admit, our bitter rivals are in a far better condition than us as they are among the best clubs in Europe at this moment.
That makes a move to Anfield a better prospect, but we do have some leeways on our side as well. Perhaps, Erik ten Hag could play a role in convincing Bremer that he would play a prominent role in our project moving forward. The Serie A ace could be one of the main cogs who could facilitate our rebuild, which would etch his name into the history at Theatre of Dreams.
Furthermore, the Merseysiders are quite stacked in the centre-back position right now, which means that Bremer would have more chances to enjoy regular game time with us. Whether that could play a part in convincing him of a move or not would need to be seen.

It would be wise if the Mancunians decide to bolster their defence and consider that as one of the priority cases. After all, the likes of Eric Bailly and Phil Jones are past their best days and would need to be replaced for that reason.
Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire have disappointed with their performances this season which leaves the starting spot free for Bremer to cement his authority. Only time will answer what lies in store for the South American from the next season onwards.
