Ajax Amsterdam ace Antony sends message to departing manager Erik ten Hag as Manchester United target winger
In a farewell video message for incoming new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, Ajax Amsterdam winger Antony has vowed to always support his head coach in his endeavours, amidst rumours of the player following him to Old Trafford (h/t The Sun).
Antony and ten Hag finished a successful 2021/22 campaign for Ajax, leading the club to a third consecutive Eredivisie title. For the manager, it marked his third league triumph in five years with the Amsterdam side.
With ten Hag departing for Manchester in the summer, Antony has wished his former boss the very best at his new club. The Brazilian also thanked the ex-Ajax coach for everything he taught the player, having moved to Holland from Sao Paulo in 2020.
“I want to wish you all the best at your new club. I also want to thank you for everything you taught me.”
The 22-year-old has been impressive for Ajax this term, racking up goals and assists for his team. Aside from United, the forward has also caught the attention of other clubs such as Chelsea, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain.
“Know that I will always stand with you if you need me”
The player will not come cheap, as the Dutch giants have valued him at £50m ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window. It remains to be seen if the Red Devils are willing to splash that kind of money on the Brazil international.
Antony has seemingly sent a transfer message to his former manager, saying that he would always stand with ten Hag if the coach needs him. The winger also said that he was thankful for all the opportunities and learning every day while at Ajax.
“I am thankful all the opportunities and learning every day. Know that I will always stand with you if you need me.”
ten Hag is expected to come in at Old Trafford and lead a massive squad rebuild in the summer transfer window. The current season has seen the forward line at United prove to be underwhelming, failing to regularly supply the goals.
Marcus Rashford has looked like a shadow of the player he once was, with the Englishman terribly out of form and under-confident whenever he has taken to the pitch. Meanwhile, new signing Jadon Sancho has struggled to recreate his same form at Borussia Dortmund, although fans will hope that he has a more successful time next season.

Anthony Elanga has been one of the brightest stars this campaign, with the academy graduate benching Rashford and Jesse Lingard to nail down a starting spot in the team. Between the current crop of options that the Red Devils have, Antony could prove to be an upgrade based on this season’s form.
It remains to be seen if ten Hag is willing to splurge in the summer to reunite with his former player, but the winger could be a fantastic addition to his new club. Antony seems to have hinted at wanting to work again with his ex-manager, but only time will tell if his transfer message works out.
