Fabrizio Romano reveals Manchester United snub confirmed by the agent of Borussia Dortmund-bound Karim Adeyemi
As relayed by football journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Thomas Solomon has confirmed that RB Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi is close to moving to Borussia Dortmund, with the player’s agent revealing that they snubbed Manchester United in the process.
Adeyemi is enjoying a breakout season with Salzburg this term, proving to be an effective goal-scorer for the team. Despite only being 20 years old, he has shown that he is more than capable of leading the line for his side in the domestic league as well as in Europe.
The German’s goals have been instrumental in helping his club win yet another Austrian Bundesliga, while also taking them to the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League. Unfortunately for Salzburg, they were knocked out of the continental competition by Bayern Munich.
The starlet’s performances during the campaign has caught the attention of Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick, who is keen on signing Adeyemi. The 63-year-old is quite familiar with the forward, who was signed by Salzburg in 2018 when Rangnick was director of football.
“But we want BVB”
However, the Red Devils’ hopes of securing the services of the youngster in the summer have taken a blow after Romano relayed the confirmation provided by Solomon, who revealed that Adeyemi is close to signing for Dortmund in a five-year deal.
The agent also revealed that the Manchester side wanted to enter the transfer race to sign the German star, but the player snubbed them for a move to the Black and Yellows. Rangnick’s prior connections to the striker, unfortunately, did not come to the English club’s benefit.
“Rangnick? Yes, Manchester United wanted to enter the race – but we want BVB.”
This will come as a major transfer blow to the Old Trafford outfit, who are in the transfer market at the end of the season to sign a forward. The club’s current crop of attacking options have failed to step up and provide the goals, bar a certain Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo has shouldered the responsibility of delivering the goals for his team, given that Edinson Cavani has remained injured for the majority of the campaign while Marcus Rashford has struggled with his form and confidence on the pitch.

Despite being one of the biggest clubs in the world, they were not able to convince a talented starlet like Adeyemi to pick them as his next transfer destination. This will worry the club hierarchy ahead of a massive summer where United are planning to rebuild their squad.
New players are needed at the Theatre of Dreams to get them firing once again and compete with the other big teams for trophies. However, they seem to be struggling to convince transfer targets to swap their cities for Manchester at the moment, which will be a concern for new manager Erik ten Hag.
