Four European giants register interest in signing exit-bound Manchester United star on a free

Transfer News: PSG, Juventus, AC Milan, and Newcastle register interest in Manchester United star Jesse Lingard

According to transfer news on The Times (Subscription Required), Paris-Saint Germain, Newcastle United, Juventus, and AC Milan are keen on signing Jesse Lingard, who is set to leave Manchester United this summer.

The Englishman’s contract with the Red Devils expires this summer and he is set to depart as a free agent. It is claimed that Erik ten Hag may not be able to succeed if he tries to get Lingard to stay.

Negotiations with two of the four aforementioned teams are even said to be at an advanced stage. Lingard even chose not to leave the club on loan last summer after being assured of game time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

But now, it seems like his long stay with the Red Devils is coming to an end. One of the most famous names to come out of our academy in recent decades, Lingard perhaps doesn’t get the respect he deserves from our fanbase.

His contribution in our FA Cup win in 2016, the EFL Cup win next year, and the UEFA Europa League triumph under Jose Mourinho seems to go unnoticed at times. Having made 232 appearances for our senior side, Lingard is truly one of the most recognizable names when it comes to Man United’s existence in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

And that is why some fans would have found it peculiar that there were no special proceedings for Lingard during the 3-0 win against Brentford, which is set to be his last home league game for the club.

Things looked uphill for him when he was loaned out to David Moyes’ side in the middle of the 2020-21 season. Lingard made a big impact at West Ham United and was in the conversation to represent England at the UEFA Euros last summer.

But not only did he get snubbed from Gareth Southgate’s team, but also found it impossible to get regular starts under the Norwegian boss, Solskjaer. This season, he has just 355 minutes of PL action so far. There is no point in holding any sort of a grudge against Lingard for wanting to leave.

In fact, United fans should wish him well in the hopes that he kickstarts his career elsewhere. The four teams mentioned above offer four different challenges. And at 29, Lingard has enough years left in his kitty to turn over a new chapter in his career.
