Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard’s brother slams the club for being classless following farewell

Taking to Instagram, Louie Scott – who is the brother of Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard – has blasted the club for not showing any class towards their player, after years of service and dedication to the side (h/t Express).

Lingard came through the ranks at United as a kid, working his way up to the first team from the academy. His breakthrough season came under Louis van Gaal, who developed and gave opportunities to several youngsters, including Marcus Rashford.

Although he managed to establish himself in the senior side in subsequent years, he has fallen out of favour in the recent past, as both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Ragnick have preferred other stars over the Englishman.

The 29-year-old was once again left as an unused substitute last night against Brentford, as Old Trafford saw out the final home game of the season in a convincing 3-0 win for the Red Devils. Bruno Fernandes, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Raphael Varane all netted for the home side.

“Not even a farewell”

After the match, the United players and staff took a lap around the stadium to thank the fans for their support in what has been a disappointing season. With Lingard’s contract expiring in the summer and there being no indication from the club regarding a renewal, it may have been the Carrington product’s final appearance in a red shirt at the Theatre of Dreams.

Scott took to social media to react to the Manchester side’s treatment of his brother, slamming them for not giving the England international a farewell despite putting in twenty years of effort and winning four domestic trophies.

“20 years of blood sweat and tears, 4 domestic trophies, 3 cup final goals. Not even a farewell.”

Manchester United was slammed by Jesse Lingard’s brother for their treatment of the player after the final home game of the season.

The midfielder is one of the few shining examples of a talented youngster breaking into the first team at Old Trafford, and continuing the English side’s rich history of promoting young talent. It is part of the club’s DNA, and Lingard is a great example of the same.

However, it looks like the end of the road for the midfielder in the summer after being deemed surplus to requirements. He even spent the second half of the previous campaign on loan at West Ham, where he proved to everyone that he is still capable of delivering the goods.

Although the Hammers were heavily linked with the player in January for a move, he stayed back at United for the remainder of the season. Lingard is said to have been disappointed with the failed transfer, and this latest snub against Brentford could prove to be the last straw.

There are two games remaining in the season, and we could perhaps see the midfielder take to the field once again. However, that is likely to be his farewell based on the outburst his sibling had on social media, and it looks like a disappointing end to the player’s career at his boyhood club.
