According to transfer news from TYC Sports, Manchester United are keeping close tabs on River Plate midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

The youngster has shown impressive performances in the Argentine league this season. With four goals and three assists in 11 games, he is among Los Millonarios’ most productive players in this campaign.

He has already cemented his spot in the starting XI despite being only 21 years old. Fernandez’s maturity has attracted admiration from the River Plate fans and there is every reason to believe that he can become a dominant force for them in the years to come.

Fernandez has already attracted interest from some of the most prominent suitors in Europe. From the Premier League, Manchester United have shown great interest in the Argentine star of late.

The Red Devils sent ’emissaries’ three times earlier to watch Fernandez in action. These scouts were in attendance for a fourth time last night as River took on Fortaleza in the Copa Libertadores. Fernandez had a sensational night as he performed well and even scored a goal within the first 10 minutes of the game.

Why United should sign Enzo Fernandez?

Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard’s Manchester United future is still hanging by a thread considering their expiring contracts. After giving away Donny van de Beek on loan to Everton, Man United’s squad depth has taken a beating.

Fred and Scott McTominay have stepped up, but their limited skills have created a lack of dynamism going forward. Bruno Fernandes’s dropoff grade in form has made the situation even more concerning lately.

Considering all the aspects, signing a midfielder in the summer transfer window would become a necessity rather than a luxury for the Red Devils.

Enzo Fernandez has shown that he could be an excellent option. Being technically strong and creative, he can initiate and dictate attacking plays. He is a great passer and shooter as well, which makes him a prize asset for any team.

Man United’s excessive interest in him suggests that the board is considering making a move soon. At such a young age, getting the skilful player early in his career would help United avoid splashing big money later on.

As the Argentina team wouldn’t be much comfortable leaving one of their star players in the middle of the season, the coming summer transfer window could be the ideal time for United to approach the youngster’s entourage. But considering there is interest from other European beams as well, Red Devils have to be quick-witted during the whole process.
