Harry Kane could leave Tottenham in the summer transfer window as Manchester United are reportedly planning a sensational swoop to bring the striker to Old Trafford.
Last summer, Kane was tipped with a move to Manchester United’s arch-rivals Manchester City, but a deal failed to materialise as Tottenham held firm and kept hold of their prize asset.
Although it will end up being another trophyless campaign for Kane, Tottenham could finish in the top four and are in a three-way battle with United and Arsenal to claim a Champions League berth.
But now it seems that United are ready to intensify their efforts to sign Kane, with the Red Devils ready for a huge shake-up at the end of the season.
The Athletic are suggesting that Kane could be pursued, especially with the long-term futures of Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford all up in the air.
Meanwhile, it has also been suggested that Tammy Abraham, who is currently plying his trade at Roma could be considered for a move to north London.
Super agent Jorge Mendes is believed to be working behind the scenes on a deal to bring Abraham back to the Premier League. There is no doubt that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will have received positive reports on Abraham, who has netted 23 times in all competitions for Roma this term.
The transfer rumour mill always goes into overdrive over the summer, and Manchester United are usually at the centre of a few sagas, and of course they will be hoping for more success capturing their main targets as Ed Woodward, the former executive vice-chairman, fumbled a few deals during his tenure.
United fans always get excited over the summer as they want to see the club make a marquee signing. And naturally, transfer fever usually filters down to the bookmakers. Many of the leading sites will have plenty of specials betting lines about which clubs will sign which player before the window closes. This is the case for anyone carrying out a full bet365 review, as they will advertise transfer specials, and Kane will feature quite high up in the list.
Kane has been a loyal servant to Tottenham, and although he has been rather subdued by his high standards, he will still be hoping to propel Tottenham into a top-four spot come the end of May.
While Spurs fans would rather not see him join a direct rival, Kane has more than earned the right to choose when he leaves.
Whether his next destination is Old Trafford or the Etihad remains to be seen, but it will be fascinating to see what happens over the next few months.
