Erik ten Hag considers renewing Ajax Amsterdam contract amidst Manchester United interest
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic (Subscription Required), Erik ten Hag is currently assessing the option to renew his contract at Ajax amidst interest from Manchester United for a potential move. The English club have identified him as their priority target for the coaching job at Old Trafford from the next season onwards.
Ten Hag is currently in talks with Man United, and there is steady progress regarding a possible move to Carrington. That being said, other avenues are also in his mind currently, with one of them being a potential stay at Amsterdam past this summer. That has seen him contemplating the possibility of a renewal at this moment.
The Red Devils are waiting to see the decision taken by the Dutchman regarding his future prospects. If he decides to take over the job formally, he wants several assurances, which would make it a slow process. Fortunately, it is claimed that his stance will be revealed soon, and a move to the Manchester club is still the likely outcome under the current circumstances.
Man Utd have one job to do!
It has been well past the right time that we have a plan in place to resuscitate the club from this decline in the next few years. That would be a long and tedious task, but it is certainly doable with the available resources. Having the right man in charge is a major factor to help with our case, and Ten Hag has all the qualities to be the one to lead us forward.
We must give the 52-year-old the assurances that he needs so that he would accept the offer from our side. Supposedly, he wants clarity on his role, responsibilities and authority. In all fairness, it is a reasonable demand as coaches require complete control to instil their identity in a team.
The management should not make the same mistakes as they did in the past by signing players with the wrong profiles when they did not suit our needs at that time. As such, Ten Hag must be given the required freedom to impose his ideas on the squad.

Even if it is stated that Ten Hag is likely to join the Mancunians, we must still do our best to make his other options as less attractive as possible. It will be interesting to see how this situation will pan out in the coming months ahead of the next campaign.
We remain hopeful that an agreement can be reached at the earliest so that the plans for a rebuild can be laid out after the announcement. After all, Ten Hag would need to assess the current team and make his demands regarding signings for the upcoming summer transfer window. For that to happen, though, he must be signed on first, which we hope is only a matter of time.
