Manchester United to compete against Real Madrid for Everton forward Richarlison
According to Sports Witness (h/t The Express), Manchester United have made an approach for Everton ace Richarlison but face competition from Real Madrid. The Brazilian international is considered a key target for the Mancunian club along with Jurrien Timber and Ruben Neves.
The 24-year-old forward has now played 144 matches across all competitions for the Toffees to date, scoring 49 goals and notching up 13 assists in the process. The stats do not do justice to the kind of physical and intimidating presence that the Brazilian international can have on the field.
The former Watford man is also being linked with Los Blancos at the moment and has previously played under Carlo Ancelotti. This coupled with their current form in the UEFA Champions League and La Liga may give them an edge. The Spanish giants could view the Brazilian as a plausible option should they be unable to land their priority target Kylian Mbappe ahead of the 2022-23 season
A tall order at Manchester United
The Red Devils have struggled to open up defences as well as assert themselves in the middle of the park on several occasions this season. Whilst interim manager Ralf Rangnick has brought some sense of a structure, their performances have left us asking for more time and again.
The Brazilian forward has a dominating presence on the field which could be of some use to the Red Devils at the moment. His ability to take on players is also another added factor as the Manchester-based club would be looking to usher into a new era under Erik ten Hag.
That being said, a lack of financial backing has never been a problem for us. According to a report by Football Observatory (h/t Sky Sports), as of 7th February 2022, Man Utd have a net spend of £903m in the last decade which has been the highest by a club in Europe’s top 5 leagues in the last decade.
This highlights that money can only get you so far without a long-term vision for the club. Hence the Old Trafford outfit must carefully analyse whether or not the players fit in with the future goals of the club as well as the coach.

That being said, Richarlison has been a standout performer for the club from Merseyside despite their troubles on the pitch. He has a vast amount of experience in the Premier League as there is absolutely no reason why he cannot shine provided he is backed by the manager and the club to play his natural game.
The interest from the Spanish giants could be off-putting, but it would be intriguing to see whether or not the Brazilian international makes it to the Theatre of Dreams, keeping in mind all the speculation surrounding him at the moment.
