Fabrizio Romano: Potentially incoming manager Erik ten Hag wants to be involved in Manchester United transfer strategy
According to football transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, potential new manager of Manchester United, Erik ten Hag, has asked the club to fully involve him in their transfer strategy, for both future and present dealings at Old Trafford.
The Ajax Amsterdam boss is the leading favourite to take over the United job in the summer, given the fantastic job he has been doing in Holland with the Dutch club, leading them to multiple league titles and cup trophies during his tenure.
He looks set to succeed Ralf Rangnick in the manager’s seat in the dugout at the Theatre of Dreams when the German gives up his role as interim manager when his tenure as head coach expires in the summer.
Along with a new manager next term, the Red Devils are also expecting a host of changes in the first team in terms of incomings and outgoings of players as the club looks to usher in a new era of success in Manchester and break their five-year trophy drought.
Complete involvement in transfers
Romano said that ten Hag has asked United to fully rope him into the club’s transfer strategy, not just for the future when he takes over, but also for the present. This would involve the 52-year-old being involved in potential signings, outgoings, and also new contracts offered to current stars.
The Dutchman is insistent that his 100% involvement is a key point in the expected rebuild at Old Trafford – especially when it comes to new signings that have to be perfect for his vision as well as the club’s.
Evidently, the potential incoming manager has a lot of plans up his sleeve if he is offered the vacant job at the Theatre of Dreams. For United fans, it will be exciting to see a head coach who seems to have a plan in mind for how he wants to go about running the team and guide them to glory.
The Ajax coach is known for building up strong sides and also continuing that trait even when he loses key players. In the past, he has seen stars like Frenkie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt, Donny van de Beek, and Hakim Ziyech leave Amsterdam to further their careers elsewhere. Van de Beek in fact made a move to United in 2020.

In their place, ten Hag has brought in and developed players like Antony, Sebastian Haller, and Ryan Gravenberch who have made it seem like Ajax never suffered from losing their best prospects. We can hope that he continues his magic in Manchester as well from the summer – if he is offered the job, that is.
Thus far, his intentions and signs seem positive and clear-cut. A strong foundation and execution may work wonders for us next season, and there is good reason to be optimistic if ten Hag takes over.
