Napoli striker Victor Osimhen could be keen on a move to Manchester United should a credible approach be made
Speaking on Canale 8’s ‘Ne Parliamo il Martedì’ as relayed by Tutto Napoli (h/t Sports Witness), Antonio Giordano has hinted that Napoli star Victor Osimhen could be interested in making the move to Manchester United should a concrete offer be made for the player. Other Premier League clubs such as Newcastle United and Arsenal have also been diligently pursuing him.
The 23-year-old has been drumming up some interest with his performances for the Italian club. The Nigerian international has bagged 15 goals and raked in four assists in 25 matches across all competitions for the Partenopei this campaign.
The Former LOSC Lille striker has been quite impressive of late playing a big part in guiding Napoli to second place in Serie A at the moment. Luciano Spaletti’s men sit just one point adrift of league leaders AC Milan and things are set up for the perfect showdown. While a host of English clubs are interested, Giordano believes that the ‘temptation’ of the Red Devils could be too good to resist for any young player.
Speaking on Canale 8’s ‘Ne Parliamo il Martedì’ as relayed by Tutto Napoli (h/t Sports Witness), the Italian journalist shed light on the huge offer that Magpies made for the Nigerian striker.
“Osimhen is followed by half the world and it is true that Newcastle showed 100 million in January, but in my opinion, if the English club returns, the Nigerian will not go.”
The Corriere dello Sport journalist went on to highlight how Man Utd could be a tempting proposition also stating that not selling at a certain price tag could be madness, giving us a case study of Allan who could have been on his way to PSG.
“Meanwhile, Arsenal never stopped following him and, surprisingly, Manchester United. In the personal imagination of a 23-year-old player, United are a temptation and if the Red Devils reach certain figures, history teaches us those certain operations must be done. Otherwise, you find yourself as in the case of Allan, who was about to go to PSG and never went there. At certain figures it is madness not to sell.”
Osimhen to Old Trafford?
Whilst Old Trafford was once called the Theatre of Dreams, it is difficult to see a ray of hope as things stand. The Mancunian club has called off the perch and with arch-rivals Manchester City and Liverpool leapfrogging us in recent times.
There seemed to be some sense of enthusiasm as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over but the hierarchy decided to sack him after a series of underwhelming performances early in the season. The Red Devils have struggled against their opponents and their record in front of goal has been underwhelming, to say the least.
Osimhen could thus be the perfect solution and at 23, could prove to be a long-term asset should the club manage to mould and nurture him in the proper manner. He could help add some much-needed firepower at Old Trafford if the manager is able to get the best out of him.

With Edinson Cavani almost out the door and an ageing Cristiano Ronaldo, the club could do well to add a young striker sooner rather than later. That being said, the manager and staff should be thoroughly consulted so that this transfer aligns with their long-term vision for the club.
The Italian club have set an astronomical price for the 23-year-old striker. It would thus be interesting to see whether Man Utd breaks the bank or look for cheaper alternatives in the coming transfer window.
