Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo posts a heartfelt message for fans and teammates after PL award
In a post via Instagram, Cristiano Ronaldo took the opportunity to thank the fans, also highlighting the fact that individual trophies are much more significant when paired with collective wins.
The Portuguese star had an emotional homecoming at Old Trafford before the start of the 2021-22 season. While the 37-year-old has had his naysayers and haters, he continues to put in clinical performances for Man Utd in crunch moments.
The Red Devils have struggled to open up opposition defences in recent times and have had to rely heavily on Ronaldo for assistance upfront. The former Real Madrid hitman has now bagged 18 goals and notched up three assists in 33 matches across all competitions for the Mancunian club so far this season.
The caption shows how Ronaldo used this post as a rallying cry for his teammates as he believes that Manchester United still have a lot to fight for before the end of the season.
“Individual achievements are always welcome, but they’re worth so much more when they are connected to collective wins. There are still many things to fight for until the end of the season and we can never quit on achieving the goals that remain possible and within our reach. Thanks to everyone who voted for the Goal Of The Month and Player Of The Month awards. Let’s go for more! Let’s fight until our last breath! Let’s go, Devils!”
Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford
Things may not have gone as smoothly as expected for the former Juventus player even since re-signing for the Old Trafford outfit. A slew of poor performances saw the club hierarchy sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a short while into the season.
Ralf Rangnick was thus appointed on an interim basis and whilst the Red Devils may not have lost a whole lot of games under him, the current crop of players have left us wanting for more on several occasions as we crashed out of all the domestic competitions as well as the UEFA Champions League.
The Portuguese international has tried his best on several occasions but at 37, it seems too much to ask him to carry the entire team on his shoulder, especially under the intense brand of football that is advocated by the German manager.
Ronaldo seems like one of the few players who has the hunger and mentality to actually wear the Man Utd shirt at the moment. A top-four finish in the PL could be seen as the most realistic target of the season but with Tottenham Hotspur, West ham United and Arsenal all in the race, it certainly won’t be easy to achieve.
