AS Roma told Manchester United already have a transfer agreement in place for Marseille star Boubacar Kamara
According to Il Romanista (h/t Express), Manchester United seem to already have a transfer agreement in place with Marseille to sign midfielder Boubacar Kamara, with AS Roma told of such news when they enquired about the star.
Roma have a new manager in charge in the form of Jose Mourinho, with the ex-United manager taking over the reins from Paulo Fonseca after spending a couple of seasons with Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
Known to be a serial winner, Mourinho has not had the best of starts at the Stadio Olimpico, with his side only sitting sixth in the Serie A points table. However, he intends to start afresh from next season and has eyed Kamara as one of the signings in the summer to help fire his team to glory.
The Red Devils are also in the mix for Kamara’s signature at the end of the season, having been heavily linked with the Frenchman in the January transfer window. Now, it seems that they are leading the race to sign the player in the summer after Roma were informed as such.
Man United agree Kamara transfer
The Serie A side were told that Man United ‘already have an agreement with Kamara’ when they enquired about signing the Marseille star ahead of the 2022-23 campaign. However, nothing is confirmed as yet, with Il Romanista only stating that this ‘may be true’.
Since nothing has been announced by either club or by the midfielder’s camp, Roma may yet be hopeful of bringing the 22-year-old to Italy and beating Mourinho’s former employers to his signature. However, they are aware that they would have to accept defeat if the Manchester club comes calling for Kamara, as the English team would be able to offer a wage offer that Roma cannot match.
Available for free at the end of the current campaign, Kamara would be a huge improvement on our current midfield, which has been inconsistent over the past few seasons. Fred and Scott McTominay, who are seemingly the first-choice pairing in the middle of the pitch, have been unreliable and incapable of delivering on the big stage when it matters most.
Our other midfielders have not been able to contribute greatly either, with Paul Pogba not able to reproduce the same form while turning out for his country at the club level, while Nemanja Matic seems to be letting his age creep up with him over the course of the last few years.

Donny van de Beek has been sent out on loan to Everton after failing to establish himself at Old Trafford, despite impressing at Ajax. With the Dutchman’s future at the club unclear, and Pogba running down his current deal with the Manchester side in the summer, midfield replacements are a necessity, and Kamara’s availability for free is too good to pass on.
United fans can hope that the news about the club snapping up Kamara well before the summer transfer window opens is true, given how good the Frenchman has been for Marseille in recent years. If all goes well, perhaps we could see Pogba be replaced by Kamara at the end of the season, with one Frenchman taking over from the other.
