Fabrizio Romano: Bruno Fernandes completes five-year contract extension with Manchester United
According to the transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Bruno Fernandes has completed the signing of his five-year contract extension with Manchester United. This renewal goes to show how highly the club regards him despite moving to Old Trafford only in 2020.
Fernandes joined Man United after leaving Sporting for a fee of around £68million. He has been in sensational form since the transfer and has scored 49 goals while making 39 assists from 117 appearances across all competitions. That is a great return, considering how the club has gone through several rough patches during that period.
The 27-year-old will now earn a lucrative salary package worth £12.5million per year which he absolutely deserves, to say the least. Funnily enough, despite doubling his wages, the midfielder is still behind six other players on the Red Devils’ earnings list.
Deserved!
The Portuguese international has often carried us at times since joining us two years ago. He is one of the most important players in the squad right now, and this extension certainly pertains to that fact. After all, the Manchester club did not need to renew him, considering not much time has passed since his signing in the first place.
However, this move is a great piece of business from the board’s side as they have realised the value of the Premier League midfielder. Let’s hope that this sign of assurance can boost his morale even further in the coming months as we look to enjoy a solid end to the current campaign.
The former Sporting Lisbon man is on the back of a great display for his national team. He helped his side to achieve qualification for the 2022 Qatar World Cup. This renewal would further boost him, which could potentially have a positive effect on his displays at the club level as well.

The new contract is key given that it assures his future at the club for the next five years. While it is still a massive offer, the Man United ace’s performances certainly warrant such a raise. Let’s hope that he returns the favour in the months to come to help us achieve Champions League qualification as he did with Portugal.
We have several high profile games coming up in the remainder of this term which could greatly determine our chances of a top-four finish in the Premier League. Fernandes’ contribution would be valued a lot in these fixtures, so let’s hope that he can get over the struggles he underwent at the club level before the break.
