Paul Pogba waiting for Manchester United to appoint new manager before making a decision on his future
According to Metro, Manchester United star, Paul Pogba will decide his future at the club after the side appoints a new permanent manager ahead of the new season, with the player out of contract in the summer.
The France international, who is currently away on national duty during the break, is set to become a free agent at the end of the campaign when his current deal with United expires.
The 29-year-old rejoined the Red Devils in 2016 after departing for Juventus for free earlier in his career. There seems to be a case of deja vu for the Manchester side, with the player once again set to exit Old Trafford for free in the summer.
There seems to be heavy interest in the academy star from outside the Premier League, with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich all keen on the Frenchman. Despite this, it is said that United’s hopes of keeping him are still alive.
Speak to the new manager
In positive news for the Old Trafford side, they could hold on to the World Cup winner until they appoint their new permanent manager, as Pogba is waiting to speak to the new man before deciding his future in Manchester.
Thus far, Ajax Amsterdam’s Erik ten Hag and PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino are leading the race for the vacant permanent manager job. With both head coaches favouring to set up in a 4-3-3 system and playing an attacking brand of football, Pogba’s future at the club could yet see light in the near future.
A new era awaits at the Theatre of Dreams next season, with the club looking to usher in a new era of trophies and success by making a fresh start with a new manager. Trophies have come few and far for the side since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson, which needs to be changed as soon as possible.
Since the great Scot retired, Old Trafford has seen David Moyes, Ryan Giggs, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Michael Carrick, and now Ralf Rangnick take charge of the team in different capacities. The end result, however, remains that the side have only won a FA Cup, Europa League, and League Cup since 2013.

Rangnick has managed to end his debut season at the club without any trophies either, which sees us now go five years since we last won silverware. It also means that it has been five years since Pogba last won a trophy, which is sure to have frustrated the player.
His decision to speak to the new manager before deciding his future is a smart move by the Frenchman, with the midfielder keen to know whether trophies will follow the new man once he takes over. Given the names we have been linked with and the reputation they bring, it certainly looks positive on paper.
