AS Roma set to place a £100m price tag for striker Tammy Abraham amid Manchester United interest
According to the Daily Mail, AS Roma have slapped a hefty price tag on their striker Tammy Abraham in the summer in an effort to ward off interest from other clubs, amid interest from Manchester United.
The Englishman swapped his native country for Italy last year, moving to Roma after he was deemed surplus to requirements in the attacking ranks by Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel. Abraham now works under former Blues manager Jose Mourinho.
United are looking at potential attackers to sign at the end of the season, given that they are short in the department. Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani are in their late 30s, and given the uncertainty in how long the pair will last, a younger replacement is being sought.
Hefty price tag
Marcus Rashford is out of form, while Anthony Martial has been sent out on loan to Sevilla to gain more minutes. Mason Greenwood’s suspension has made things worse for the Red Devils in their efforts to score more goals, which is easy to see why they have picked up interest in Abraham.
Roma however, are said to be desperate to keep hold of their star striker, and are looking to place an eye-popping valuation of £100m for the 24-year-old in the hope of fending off interest from other teams in the summer. Apart from United, city rivals Manchester City are also monitoring the forward.
Abraham has been a revelation in Serie A since his move to Roma, becoming their go-to man when it comes to scoring goals and effectively leading the line for the team. Despite being a relatively new signing, he has settled in quickly under Mourinho’s guidance.
Chelsea seemed to be always sure of his talent, having inserted a buy-back option into Abraham’s deal which is valued at about £67m from next year. Given that the Italian side has posted huge losses recently, perhaps a sale to the Blues’ rivals would be smarter business as it would land them more money.

That being said, it will not be an easy decision for them to let go of the English striker. He has not only been an effective goalscorer, but Roma fans have also been appreciative of his all-round play for the team.
United are chasing a young striker in the summer, and Abraham fits the bill for the kind of player they are looking for. However, it remains to be seen whether they are willing to spend that big an amount on one player, and also whether their new permanent manager is keen on the Englishman.
