Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger wants Manchester United to solve their managerial uncertainty before any transfer talk

According to Christian Falk of Bild on Twitter, Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger wants Manchester United to solve their managerial uncertainty before deciding on his future. He has been linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge for quite some time due to the uncertainty surrounding his long term prospects.

Rudiger is out of contract in the summer transfer window and has not reached an agreement with the Blues over an extension. That has cast his future into doubt, especially following the sanctions that have affected the club’s daily running. After all, they can no longer engage in talks over a renewal with him which could force him out regardless of his intentions.

Man United have shown an interest in signing the German, but facilitating any move for him would be challenging to say the least. However, he is willing to entertain offers from them but wants to discuss things with the new manager. Ralf Rangnick is only the interim coach at this moment, and they are still searching for the next man in charge.

Do Man Utd even have a chance?

We should always be sceptical when it comes to matters like this as the 28-year-old is a crucial player for our direct rivals. That alone may make it difficult for a transfer to be finalised, which is made worse, especially when there are other interested parties such as Real Madrid.

Falk did provide us with a timeframe that the Premier League superstar will not decide on his future before the Champions League quarter-finals against Los Blancos. That being said, the central defender still hopes that the uncertainty surrounding Thomas Tuchel’s side will be solved as soon as possible.

Since the former AS Roma man is ready to assess our proposal, we should at least make our case. Not to mention, our search for a new manager goes in line with his demand, so it would not hurt us to try our chances. As such, we would be wise to address that issue at the earliest to try our best to bring him in.

There were claims about Bayern Munich being in the race, but it was shut down and confirmed to be false rumours by Falk himself. The Bavarian chiefs believe the Blues defender is too old for making such a huge investment in terms of the wages, and they would only push for a transfer if he reduces his salary demands.

It will be interesting to see what stance would the Manchester club take regarding this matter moving forward. We do require several central defenders to boost our squad quality, but it would be best if we give priority elsewhere rather than completely focusing on Rudiger.

The German international is a tough target for obvious reasons, and our efforts should probably be saved towards others. His wage demands have also not been that of a player willing to play on the cheap. That being said, considering he would be a free signing if we manage to sign the defender in the summer and he doesn’t renew his Chelsea contract, any cost we do spend on his salary may not be that big of a setback by that logic.

He would also significantly boost our backline where arguably Raphael Varane is the only one that looks irreplaceable right now. Let’s wait and see how this situation pans out in the coming months ahead of this summer.
