Manchester United told by their ex-star Paul Parker that they only have three undroppable players right now
Speaking to MyBettingSites (h/t Manchester Evening News), ex-Manchester United star Paul Parker suggested that his former side only have three undroppable players in the squad right now that interim manager Ralf Rangnick needs to take a call on.
The team currently sit sixth in the Premier League table, four points away from fourth-placed Arsenal, who also have a game in hand over the Red Devils. Thus far, they look in grave danger of missing out on Champions League football next season.
Parker, who won 2 PL titles with United, said that only Fred, David de Gea, and Anthony Elanga were the players that Rangnick could not risk dropping in his team because they earn the right to play week in and week out.
“When I look at it, somebody else, other than those two (Fred and David de Gea), who earns the right to play week in and week out, I’m just gonna go with (Anthony) Elanga.”
The Old Trafford side has had yet another disappointing campaign this time around, failing to win a trophy after being knocked out of the Champions League recently, ending their only remaining chance at getting their hands on silverware this term.
“Those two and Elanga”
With the business end of the season approaching, the trio mentioned by the former United defender needs to give it their all and fight until the finish to ensure that the team gets ahead of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur to secure fourth place on the last day.
Parker added Elanga to the list of undroppables alongside Fred and de Gea, saying that the Swede seems to be growing up very quickly and that he can improve if he plays with the best of players.
“Those two and Elanga, I’d put him there as a young boy who kind of seems to be growing up very quickly. He can only improve if he plays with the best of players.”
Parker’s list is certainly curious, having dropped big names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, and Raphael Varane, who were all grand summer signings acquired by the club to turn the team into world-beaters. Superstar playmaker Bruno Fernandes, who has looked like a frustrated figure for United on the pitch in recent weeks, is another curious exclusion.
While Ronaldo hit the ground running with his goals, Varane and Sancho have taken their time to establish themselves in the first team and adapt to the Premier League’s physicality and intensity. Sancho, undoubtedly, has been one of the best players that the team has had in 2022.

Getting back to Parker’s names in his list, de Gea has been at his absolute best this season, rolling back the years as his quick reflexes and shot-stopping abilities have kept us at bay in multiple matches. Elanga has been a rising star, but his consistency needs to be levelled up to achieve the same success every time.
Fred, however, is a curious name on the list but perhaps warrants his inclusion given his form under Ralf Rangnick recently. We saw glimpses of the midfielder’s trickery against Atletico Madrid last week, but he needs to keep up that same level of energy and determination to truly become an undroppable in the side.
