Manchester United sent scouts to watch RB Leipzig superstar Christopher Nkunku
According to Daily Star, Manchester United had sent their scouts to assess RB Leipzig superstar Christopher Nkunku over the last weekend. He has enjoyed a terrific season and is arguably among the top five attackers in the top five European leagues so far.
Ralf Rangnick is keen to add Nkunku to the Man United squad and has suggested the club to secure the forward’s services at the end of this term. The Red Devils scouted him last weekend when Leipzig travelled to face off against Vfl Bochum in the league and the attacker scored the only goal of the game. He has been on top form this campaign and would undoubtedly have left an impression on the scouts.
That being said, prising the Frenchman away from the Bundesliga side could be relatively costly due to the presence of a buyout clause. His release clause stands at £62million, but one could say he would certainly cost that much considering his growth after leaving Paris Saint-Germain back in 2019.
Potential summer signing?
The 24-year-old could become a necessity for us in the summer transfer window, considering the current circumstances at Old Trafford. Edinson Cavani is expected to leave us on a free transfer at the end of this campaign, whereas Cristiano Ronaldo has shown signs of decline.
Marcus Rashford has struggled to get going so far after returning from injury, which forces us to look for quality additions. Nkunku can be that man looking at how he has scored 25 goals and assisted 13 times this season from 37 matches across all competitions.
Moreover, we are also boosted by the fact that the Leipzig ace would be willing to join us because of the opportunity to reunite with Rangnick. The interim manager has expressed that it is “obvious” for the Manchester club to bring in a younger striker considering our current set of options.

The board must jump the gun and secure the former PSG star’s services in the summer transfer window after taking all these factors into consideration. After all, he would address our need for a striker in the long term while simultaneously offering great quality in the present as well.
Even if we have to pay his release clause, the French attacker’s wages make him a great prospect for us. He currently earns £30k-a-week, and we are touted to triple that amount comfortably to make our case. It would still be a “cheap” salary, considering the goal involvement he has made so far. Let’s hope that the management will get this deal done at the earliest as we look to rebuild our current squad.
