Other clubs have not contacted Manchester United managerial target Mauricio Pochettino, insists Paris Saint-Germain director Leonardo
As per the Metro, Paris Saint-Germain executive Leonardo has insisted that manager Mauricio Pochettino has not received any offers from other clubs as of yet, despite being linked to Manchester United in the summer.
United are looking to appoint a new permanent manager in the summer, which will take place after interim boss Ralf Rangnick’s tenure in the dugout expires at the end of the season. The German only took over late last year after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s dismissal.
Leonardo, who is currently the sporting director at PSG, said that the club never even thought about replacing their Argentine head coach as he still has a contract in Paris despite rumours surrounding his exit.
“Today he has one year left on his contract (until June 2023). Honestly, we never thought about changing coaches. Really.”
United fans will be familiar with Pochettino, given that they saw plenty of the former PSG player when he was in charge of Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League for quite a while. He famously led Spurs to the final of the Champions League in the 2018/19 season, but could not cross the last hurdle.
“No problem with Pochettino”
Pochettino did a fine job in England, with the manager consistently helping Tottenham qualify for European football during his tenure in north London. He also oversaw some famous victories while at Spurs, including a win over Manchester United in what was the final game to be played at White Hart Lane.
Leanardo said that so far, no club has approached either the Argentine or PSG, declaring that he has no problem with the manager and that they have a clear line of communication between them.
“He says no club asked him and no one called us. I have no problem with Pochettino. We are very clear, we talk about everything.:
United are leaving no stone unturned at the end of the season in their hunt for a new permanent manager, with the club drawing up a shortlist of candidates who could take the job in the summer. To no one’s surprise, Pochettino has been named on the list.
The former Spurs man in many ways would make for a perfect appointment at Old Trafford. The Argentine is known for his eye for identifying talented youth players and giving them a chance – there is no need to look further than Harry Kane and Dele Alli, two of the finest talents English football has produced.

At Carrington, there lies the possibility of the next big thing in England’s top flight to be discovered, and if all goes well, it could very well take place under the tutelage of Pochettino. However, with PSG standing firm in their stance of not letting their current boss leave in the summer, it may not be that easy to sign him.
Given that the Parc des Princes side is vying for the league title as well as the Champions League trophy this season, Pochettino will have his hands full at the moment. Hopefully, we hear better news regarding the manager at the end of the season.
