Juventus earmark Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba as their primary target for the summer transfer window
According to Calciomercato (h/t The Cult of Calcio), Juventus could look to make Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba their main priority in the summer. His current contract with the club expires at the end of the season.
The French international has struggled to maintain his consistency throughout his second spell with the Red Devils. Nagging injury issues have also destroyed whatever momentum the 28-year-old could muster during his second stint at Old Trafford.
On his day, Pogba could light up the pitch and we can see why the Mancunian club spent a whopping £89m to secure his services, but his lack of consistency and fitness is something that could be held against him.
Bruno Fernandes has brought another dimension to the attack at Old Trafford ever since making the switch to Manchester United. The likes of Fred has grown under the tutelage of interim manager Ralf Rangnick and with the recent performances of the loaned out Donny van de Beek, one is forced to think whether letting go of Pogba would be such a bad decision after all.
His departure could help reduce a major part of our wage bill and also help us add some other exciting prospects in the middle of the park. van de Beek has also shown that he can operate from a deeper-lying position and could be moulded to try and fill in for the French professional footballer should he depart.
The Bianconneri are slowly starting to get their footing again under manager Max Allegri. Their latest signing Dusan Vlahovic has already started to become a pivotal figure upfront and could be viewed as a future world-beater if he continues on the same trajectory. Pogba’s passing range combined with the former Fiorentina player’s striking abilities could prove to be a lethal attacking bond.
A change of scenery could also be a good thing for the 28-year-old who has had a rough patch of form at the Theatre of Dreams. The Red Devils have also struggled to get their hands on any piece of silverware ever since Jose Mourinho left the club despite coming close on a few occasions.
The French international could thus be tempted to make the move to the Turin-based club with a view of resurrecting his career at the club level and achieving the kind of consistency that could make him a household name once again.
