Fabrizio Romano: Cristiano Ronaldo leaves Manchester United future up in the air in latest interview
As per football journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Cristiano Ronaldo has left everyone guessing over his future at Manchester United beyond the current season while speaking in an interview with DAZN.
The Portugal international moved back to Old Trafford the previous summer in a sensational transfer from Juventus, getting Red Devils fans all across the world excited about the return of the prodigal son. The player had departed for Real Madrid in 2009.
Now, the forward has said that he does not know whether he will be at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future, as he cannot predict how long he has left in his playing career. Further, he hinted that if another club gives him the opportunity to win more trophies, he may consider moving there.
Currently, Man United’s only shot at a trophy this season is the Champions League after crashing out of other competitions early on in the campaign. The club is set to welcome Atletico Madrid to Manchester next month for the second leg of their Round of 16 tie in the competition, with the fixture evenly poised at 1-1.
“Very happy with my form”
The Portuguese striker turned 37 years old this month, but that has not stopped him from being one of our biggest threats upfront. He has proven that age is just a number as he has almost single-handedly helped the club progress from the group stages in the UCL this season, scoring late and crucial goals.
Despite not expressly committing his future with the club, Ronaldo said that he was happy with his current form for Portugal and Manchester United, saying he wants to continue in the same manner. Hopefully, we can see this as a sign that he has some interest in staying in England for at least another season.
Man United have struggled in front of goal this season despite having Ronaldo in their ranks, failing to put away chances. The Portugal captain is also to blame partly for some of these changes, given the extremely high standards we have come to expect from the star.
At times, the player has also cut a frustrated figure on the pitch due to his teammates failing to pick him out in situations, making the wrong decisions in the final third. But then again, Ronaldo himself cannot fire the club to a win all the time, and football is a team sport after all.

The former Real Madrid player is extremely ambitious, and it remains to be seen whether the player will stick around if the club cannot win trophies this season or guarantee titles the next year. His winning mentality may see him seek out other clubs that can help him add trophies to his cabinet.
The summer will prove to be an exciting time for United fans, as they look to welcome a new permanent manager as well as look forward to a possible summer rebuild. Ronaldo is very likely to assess his options at the end of the season and see what the future holds for him and the club and make a decision on his future then. Hopefully, the ex-Juventus man sticks around for next season.
