Manchester United planning on sending chief scout to watch Torino star Gleison Bremer
According to FC Inter News (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United have taken an interest in signing Torino defender Gleison Bremer as they look to reinforce their defence in the summer transfer window.
The Brazilian has been plying his trade in Italy for nearly four years now, but it looks like the defender could be making a move to England if rumours surrounding United’s interest in the player prove to be true.
It is said that the Red Devils are planning to send their chief scout to watch Bremer in action, as the club decide whether or not to sign the centre-back in the summer to add to their defensive ranks.
The 24-year-old spent his youth career in Brazil before making his senior bow with Atletico Mineiro. A year later, the defender was flying off to Italy as Torino came calling for him after being impressed with Bremer’s performances in his native country.
Inter Milan interest
The race to sign Bremer will not be that easy for Man United, however, as Inter Milan are also said to be interested in the Serie A star. The defending champions could make a move for the centre-back in the summer.
It could be argued that Inter could gain an edge over the Red Devils in the transfer battle if the Brazilian is tempted to stay in Italy and continue his career. A move to the Premier League may not work out for everyone, given its physical demands and intense schedule.
Last summer saw United rope in Raphael Varane from Real Madrid to boost their defence, as the Manchester club decided to seriously invest in strengthening themselves at the back. Varane has come in and provided some much-needed calmness and stability, and Old Trafford will expect more if not as much from any new defenders coming in.
Bremer is not a superstar like Varane is, or well known outside of Italy. If Man United’s rumoured interest in the player is true, then a decision on the player is best taken after scouts have watched him in action. The fact that the Red Devils are sending their chief scout to monitor the defender means that the club is serious about the Brazilian.

It would be improbable to expect that Bremer can come in and replace Varane and club captain Harry Maguire as the first-choice centre-back. The Man United pair have much more experience than the 24-year-old, and so he would have to settle for a substitute role at Old Trafford.
As a first step, however, the chief scout needs to go and watch the former Atletico Mineiro player in action. Bremer may have extra motivation to perform for Torino in recent games if he has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford.
