Fabrizio Romano plays down negotiations between Manchester United star Paul Pogba and other interested parties
Speaking to Que Golazo YouTube channel (h/t Manchester Evening News), Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano said there was nothing advanced with other clubs and Manchester United ace Paul Pogba.
The Frenchman has been in excellent form for Man United of late, picking up an assist against Brighton at home and putting in a commanding display against Leeds United at Elland Road. The Frenchman seems to be enjoying his football at the club after his return from injury in 2022.
Romano said that at the moment, there is nothing advanced between Pogba and other clubs, which is great news for the Red Devils if they are looking to keep him beyond the summer for a few more years.
“At the moment, I’m told that there is nothing advanced with any club. Of course, we’re talking about a top player and so it’s normal to have conversations with clubs.”
The World Cup winner will see his current deal at Old Trafford expire at the end of the season, which means he is available as a free agent in the summer. This also means that he is currently free to speak to foreign clubs to sign a pre-contract agreement.
Paris Saint-Germain interest
Romano said that there was prior interest from Paris Saint-Germain the previous summer, but Pogba stayed put at the Theatre of Dreams for another year as he looks to respect his contract with the club until its end. It is not yet known whether the France international is planning to extend his stay in Manchester for a few more years.
It remains to be seen whether PSG will return for Pogba once again next summer. While Man United fans will want him to stick around given his recent performances under interim manager Ralf Rangnick.
Rangnick’s arrival combined with Pogba’s return from injury in 2022 has seen an upturn in form from the former Juventus man. He has once again emerged as an important part of the Red Devils’ current midfield setup. Together with Bruno Fernandes, the pair are easily the club’s most creative players in the middle of the park.
Pogba has been playing with a smile on his face when he takes to the field wearing a Man United kit, but there have been no assurances from the player about committing his future with the club much to some fans’ frustrations.

So far, Pogba’s career at Old Trafford has seen some hits and misses, with inconsistency being a key issue for the midfielder. He never looks to have achieved the same form that he had while at Juventus, where the Frenchman won four Serie A titles and impressed everyone in the league.
Although it is too early to say for sure, the midfield star has looked more reliable on the ball this year, and we can hope it is a sign of good things to come. With the club’s next permanent manager yet to be announced, it remains to be seen if Pogba will stick around for the birth of a new era at the club.
