Transfer News: Manchester United are in pole position to sign Villareal forward Arnaut Danjuma
According to Fichajes (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are considered to be in the best position to sign Dutch forward Arnaut Danjuma. Liverpool are also thought to be interested in securing his services.
The 25-year-old forward joined the Yellow Submarine for a €25million fee from Bournemouth last summer. The Dutch professional footballer has been impressive ever since joining the La Liga club. He has already made a mark by scoring 12 goals and providing three assists in 21 matches across all competitions for the Spanish club this campaign.
Danjuma also brings a dash of versatility as he can play as a centre-forward as well as a winger. That being said, the 25-year-old has been more effective in a more central position up front. He also has substantial experience in England where he made 52 appearances across all competitions for the Cherries.
Arnaut Danjuma and fitting in this Manchester United front-line
Manchester United have created loads of chances in their recent fixtures but haven’t managed to achieve a great conversion rate with the exception of their last PL match against Leeds United. While Ralf Rangnick seems to have created more structural solidity in this squad, their lack of clinical ability in front of the goal has haunted them in recent times.
The Red Devils do boast some exciting options like Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho in their frontline. This coupled with the vastly experienced duo of Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani sounds like the most ideal attacking setup on paper.
That being said, Ronaldo and Cavani on occasions have struggled to match the intensity that is demanded from their German manager. The duo is now in their 30s and with their future at Old Trafford being uncertain, the club could do well to add a young attacker like Danjuma to the ranks.
His time in England could help him get acclimatized to the conditions of the PL much faster as opposed to another player who would be setting foot in England for the first time. At 25, the Dutch forward could also prove to be a great long-term asset to the club if nurtured in the right manner.

The Old Trafford outfit seems to be on a rebuild of sorts and the acquisition of talented forwards like Danjuma could pay rich dividends. It now remains to be seen if Danjuma is someone we look to bring in during the upcoming transfer windows.
Rashford can very well feature as a number 9 once Cavani and Ronaldo are pushed out of the XI and that will free up a big space out on the flanks to fill. The Dutch winger is someone who can be a potential solution in that regard.
