Joel Glazer could ruin Erik ten Hag plans as Manchester United continue manager search
According to The Express, Joel Glazer could spoil the plans to sign Erik ten Hag as Manchester United continue the search for a new manager. They are looking to appoint someone permanently ahead of next season and put an end to the uncertainty at the helm.
Richard Arnold and Ralf Rangnick have reached common ground over who should take over the reins next season. Both of them are in agreement over the appointment of Ten Hag as the permanent coach, according to The Sun via The Express.
Glazer could opt against agreeing with them as the final decision rests with him regarding the managerial appointment. The Red Devils have been keen on signing Mauricio Pochettino for a long time, which could be in line with what the club chief wants. That is highlighted by Ed Woodward’s admiration for the PSG boss. Woodward is close to the Glazers, and it would not be too much of a reach to say that they also approve of it.
Not good?
There have been many times in the past when the backroom officials have not unanimously agreed to a decision that would shape the club’s future. It would be concerning this time around as, with hindsight, we know how the outcome of all those cases has been.
While Pochettino is a solid option, he does not hold a candle to what the Dutchman has done at Ajax. He has built a strong team twice in a matter of a few years with the help of the Eredivisie club’s management, who has run the club excellently. A manager alone can not change the club’s fate as we have many examples in world football.
It would not bode well for us if there is no agreement behind the scenes as it could adversely affect us in the future. After all, we would want the important heads to be on the same page when it comes to decisions that are crucial in determining our success.

The Argentinian is a strong contender to take over the managerial role as he was considered to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho in the past. There are other options as well, like Luis Enrique, Roberto Mancini and Julen Lopetegui, who are on the shortlist.
Whatever the case it may be, the Glazers must listen to those who have great knowledge about the sport rather than exercising their right as the owners. That would only help them in the future as bringing in success would undoubtedly be the foundation for profits moving forward.
