Transfer News: Manchester United target Borussia Monchengladbach left-back Ramy Bensebaini
According to Spanish news outlet Fichajes, Manchester United have identified Borussia Monchengladbach left-back Ramy Bensebaini as a transfer target ahead of next summer. He has been a regular for his side over the past few years and has impressed this term as well.
Bensebaini is only contracted with Monchengladbach until 2023, which could mean that Man United could get him on a cut-price deal. He is currently valued at €25million in transfer fees, although they could bring that down as he is set to enter the final year of his current deal. It is claimed that negotiations would be easy if they do end up vying for his services.
The Red Devils have identified the 26-year-old as an option to replace Luke Shaw and Alex Telles, who has been underperforming under Ralf Rangnick. He was previously subjected to interest from Inter Milan, although a move could not be finalised as they eventually bought Robin Gosens from Atalanta.
Good option?
Primarily a left-back, the Algerian can also play as a centre-back in a three at the back system when needed. Moreover, he can also deputise as a defensive midfielder and a left-sided midfielder when he is asked to do so. His flexibility to perform in such positions has made him into a player with a good attacking and defensive blend.
The Bundesliga star has played 14 matches this season and has netted five times with two assists alongside it across all competitions. Standing at 186cm, he is also a threat during set-pieces while being able to dominate aerial duels during the defensive phases as well.
The Gladbach defender also has a knack to identify opposition threats and shutting out attacks with his excellent ability to read the game. He could become a great prospect for the Manchester club if they do end up signing him in the coming transfer windows. Whether that will happen or not remains to be seen.

The Algerian international’s contract makes him a financial prospect to take advantage of as there is a chance that we can get him for an even lesser asking price. Both Shaw and Telles have been hit and miss this campaign, and should they fail to get back into the groove, we would be forced to look elsewhere. The Monchengladbach fullback would be a splendid choice in such a case, but only time will tell whether we would get his signature or not.
