Leeds United winger Raphinha addresses links to Manchester United and other PL clubs
Leeds United winger Raphinha has issued a response to being linked with a transfer move to Manchester United and other Premier League clubs. He is one of the highly coveted attackers in world football at this instant, following his growth over the last few years. He could be subjected to a potential bidding war in the summer transfer window.
The Brazilian is tied down at Elland Road until 2024 and was subjected to a £50million bid from West Ham United in the January transfer window. Chelsea and Liverpool have been keeping tabs on him as well with a future move in mind. Bayern Munich were touted to buy him last month, but it never came to fruition.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Radio Leeds (h/t Metro), the 25-year-old has conveyed that his mind is focused on fulfilling his contract with Leeds for now. The forward added that he leaves all the transfer related stuff to his agent and dad. It is interesting to note that he did not rule out a future move, which could be a boost to the interested parties.
“I’ve got a contract until 2024, my head is totally here and focused on Leeds. As for contractual matters, I leave them to my agent and my dad. I just focus on playing my football and making the Leeds fans happy, scoring goals, providing assists and getting victories for the team. Contractual matters are for my agent, my focus is on making people happy with my football and doing as best as I can for Leeds.”
Summer move on the cards?
It is claimed that we are assessing the market for a potential signing in the right-wing slot. As such, we are looking at the Leeds ace in an attempt to add him to our frontline. While Raphinha did say that his mind is with Marcelo Bielsa’s side for the moment, he did not put an end to these talks despite having the ability to do so.
Focusing on midfield should be Man United’s priority, but once that is taken care of, we can look toward other areas like the forward line. We could see a situation next summer where we may end up needing additions in the attacking department. The Brazil international would be a great option in such a case.

Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard have less than six months left on the current contract, whereas Anthony Martial’s future is still uncertain. Cristiano Ronaldo is nearing the latter stages of his playing career and may have to take a backseat next season to prolong his time in the top flight.
Having scored eight goals and assisted twice from 19 Premier League matches this season, the Whites attacker would be a great prospect indeed. He could build on that attacking output at a bigger club under the right circumstances. Only time will tell if we can get his services next summer or not.
