Transfer News: West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice shows desire to join Manchester United
According to Manchester Evening News, West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice has expressed a desire to join Manchester United on a potential transfer in the future. He has been a revelation over the last two years and could arguably be the best holding midfielder during that time in the Premier League.
Man United have already been keeping tabs on Rice as they look for options to boost their team. Midfield has been named as the “biggest problem” in the squad, making him a great prospect to target in the future. This latest update would be a boost for them since both of them are on the same page at this stage.
However, the Red Devils still face the obstacle of prompting West Ham to sell their prized asset with the summer transfer window ahead of them. The Englishman is tied down with them until 2024, which means that the Manchester club could be forced out of the mix until next season.
Stars lining up in favour?
This piece of information is a massive boost for us despite the firm stance made by the Hammers. After all, having the 23-year-old’s interest would go a long way in facilitating a transfer in the future. If we are priced out of a move, getting a man of his services even after next season would be a great option indeed.
However, the midfield is still a concern for us, which the club have identified as well. As such, we may not be in a situation to wait until we can get the England international. We are desperate for additions in the centre of the pitch, so there is a need for such signings next summer itself.
For all these reasons, getting the signature of the West Ham star is still a major challenge for us to overcome. But if we end up doing so, he would go a long way in solving our issues in midfield. He has been playing as a holding midfielder under Gareth Southgate, whereas David Moyes has used him further up the pitch.

That makes him a perfect option for us since we have played with two defensive midfielders and a single pivot system as well. Paul Pogba is in line to become a free agent at the end of this season, whereas Donny van de Beek’s future is still uncertain. Nemanja Matic is well past his prime, plus Fred and Scott McTominay have their limitations.
All in all, there are many reasons to facilitate a move for the Hammers ace in the future. Let’s hope that it is the case after all, as the summer transfer window is set to follow soon.
