Transfer News: Manchester United have submitted an offer to the agents of Denis Zakaria
According to German transfer insider Christian Falk, Manchester United have registered their first offer to the agent of Denis Zakaria ahead of signing him in the January transfer window.
Denis Zakaria has been in spectacular form this season. The defensive midfielder has shown a dominating midfield presence in 15 Bundesliga appearances. Despite being a key player for Borussia Mönchengladbach, the Swiss midfielder has no intention to broaden his stay at the club.
Zakaria’s current contract is set to end in the summer, but the Swiss midfielder hasn’t shown any interest in penning down a new deal, which could hint that he is ready to move to the next level of his career. The 25-year-old wouldn’t have any problem finding a new home as a handful of European heavyweights are interested in securing his services.
Manchester United have been heavily linked with Zakaria in recent times. Now, it is believed that the Red Devils have already made their first offer to the Swiss midfielder’s agents.
Even though talks have not been initiated with Mönchengladbach over a possible transfer, United should have an advantage inclosing the deal soon, due to their approach to pay a transfer fee to the German team despite knowing that the 25-year-old would be a free agent in the summer window.
Our team has lacked creative quality in the midfield area after the injury of Paul Pogba. Aside from Bruno Fernandes, the other two regular starters – Fred and Scott McTominay- have played a rather deep-lying role, creating a lack of quality ball supply for the front line.
Even though Zakaria also falls in the category of Central defensive midfielder, his recent performance has shown that he could provide better coverage for the defence. In that case, Ralf Rangnick would be able to play more attack-minded players in the midfield who could assist Bruno in taking the load.

However, going for the highly-talented midfielder would certainly create a risk due to increased competition. In contrast, we would get the Swiss star in a cut-price deal keeping in mind that he is closing the end of his contract. If our board secures the signature this month, it would be a great business!
