Derby County are eyeing a loan move for Manchester United starlet Amad Diallo
According to The Telegraph (Subscription Required), Derby County are eager to complete a loan move for Manchester United ace Amad Diallo.
The young winger joined from Atalanta a year ago but has been on the fringes of first-team action. He was expected to complete a loan move to Feyenoord in the summer, but an injury meant that the player was going to stay put at Old Trafford.
Diallo has since recovered and has starred for the U-23 side. However, Man United now want the youngster to secure a loan move. Derby County are lining up a deal for him as Wayne Rooney is looking to ensure that the Rams remain in the second tier of English football despite facing a deduction of 21 points in recent months.
Birmingham City remain viable contenders in the race to sign the Ivorian international, despite recent claims being made about talks collapsing between the two clubs. Barnsley, who are also battling relegation in the Championship, are keen on a deal for the 19-year-old. Feyenoord are not considered to be an option anymore.
Wayne Rooney could teach Diallo a thing or two
Diallo needs to get some first-team minutes under his belt this season. Championship football is often energetic and intense, making it a good playing ground for young talents to develop. And our young winger would have an able coach in Rooney who would know his parent club inside out.
The Man United legend spent more than a decade at Old Trafford and shrouded himself into our history books. His commitment, passion, desire, and tenacity in every game proved vital in securing countless trophies. If he could instil the same qualities in the African star, it would be a blessing.
For all his technical skills, the former Atalanta star can still develop some discipline into his game. He would be smart to adapt to the style of a team rather than operating as an independent player. Rooney always played for the badge on the front, and the young winger needs to develop that sort of passion if he hopes to don our famous red jersey consistently in the years to come.
Birmingham City and Barnsley are also fine clubs to develop at, but Rooney might be the decisive factor in this deal. He is a club legend, after all- one who is loved by Manchester United fans and personnel.

Teden Mengi spent the second half of last season at Pride Park and came out a better player than when he signed for them. The 19-year-old could do something similar and return to Old Trafford in the summer with substantial first-team experience. Wherever he goes, Diallo really needs to get out of Old Trafford for the second half of this season.
He has been on the sidelines for far too long and must start playing regular football to continue his development.
