Alvaro Fernandez valued at £6 million by Manchester United amidst substantial interest

Manchester United will demand £6 million from interested clubs to part ways with Alvaro Fernandez this summer, according to Relevo (h/t Mirror).

Initially, Erik ten Hag wanted to have a look at the Spaniard during pre-season. It looks like a loan move was on the cards. However, the Red Devils are considering cashing in on him.

But the Old Trafford side feel the defender has a future at the top of the game. Therefore, they could include a buyback option in any potential deal. Also, a temporary move is not ruled out.

In the Premier League, West Ham United and Burnley are the two clubs who have Fernandez on their radar. However, the Spaniard is also attracting interest from his native country, with Granada, Las Palmas and Espanyol eyeing the left-back.

Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt are also looking to acquire the 20-year-old’s services. With one year left on the full-back’s current contract, it remains to be seen what the future holds for him.

United signed Fernandez in the summer of 2020 from Real Madrid. However, he has mostly played for the Red Devils’ reserve team and is yet to make an appearance for the senior squad.

In the previous campaign, the youngster was on loan at Preston North End and enjoyed regular minutes for the Championship outfit. He made 42 appearances in all competitions for the Deepdale Stadium side, providing six assists.

At Man United, the left-hand side of the defence has been occupied by Luke Shaw for some time now. The English national has been Erik ten Hag’s go-to player. Tyrell Malacia is also at the gaffer’s disposal.

Fernandez has shown immense potential. However, it would evidently be wise for the Spaniard to continue his development elsewhere. Whether a permanent move ends up being the option chosen remains to be seen.
