Sevilla set to make second offer to sign Manchester United ace Anthony Martial after having first bid rejected
According to journalist Ekrem Konur (h/t ESPN), Sevilla are set to launch a second offer to land Manchester United ace Anthony Martial after having their first bid rejected.
The 26-year-old ace has struggled for game-time at Old Trafford this season. An injury towards the end of last campaign was followed up by a lack of match-fitness at the start of this season. The additions of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho have not helped his case either.
Thus, Martial has requested to leave Man United. Ralf Rangnick broke it to the media a couple of weeks ago about the player’s intentions of leaving in January. Sevilla launched an initial bid to sign him on a loan deal, by agreeing to cover half his wages. But Man United rejected it as they wanted them to pay the player’s full wages and also provide a loan fee.
Barcelona and Juventus have also been keen on a deal for the Frenchman but the striker prefers a move to Sevilla. And the latter are now ready to launch another bid in their quest to bring the centre-forward to Spain.
Martial to leave eventually?

The former AS Monaco star has been inconsistent over the last five years. It looked like he was on the right path a couple of years ago after a stellar 2019/20 season. But failure to remain consistent over the span of two to three seasons has made him his own doom at Man United.
However, he could now seal a move away from the club this month. Sevilla look extremely keen on securing his services, and understandably so since they have an outside chance of winning the La Liga title this season.
This deal would perhaps be the best move for us and for the player. Martial needs to find some consistent game-time, and that is not going to be possible at Old Trafford. Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani are the main centre-forwards at the club, while Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford, and Anthony Elanga are the future.
If the French international does leave on a loan deal without an obligation to buy, we could monitor his performances over the next six months to make a permanent decision over his future. Alternatively, we also have the option to potentially offload him in the summer- if we want to sell him at all- and use him as a squad player until then to effectively compete on all fronts.

Regardless, his future can be speculated upon depending upon the second potential offer put forth by Sevilla. With the World Cup also around the corner, Martial can use some regular playing time to make an impression on the France national team.
We have ample cover in the frontline to cushion any blow Martial’s potential departure may hand us. But we should ensure that we are fairly compensated for losing one of our senior forwards midway through the season, and the club should not be pressured into any deal it doesn’t want to accept.
